Job summary

City of Cheyenne invites applicants for an Assistant City Prosecutor role to prosecute municipal code violations and gain substantial trial experience.

You will work under the City Attorney and Chief City Prosecutor, interviewing witnesses, researching, and drafting pleadings while maintaining weekday hours and enjoying city benefits. The City may cover Wyoming Bar admission costs for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Active Wyoming State Bar license required.
• Experience in prosecuting municipal violations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prosecute violations of Cheyenne Municipal Code before the Cheyenne Municipal Court.
• Interview witnesses, review police reports, conduct legal research, draft pleadings and memoranda.
• Represent the City in bench and jury trials; respond to motions and appellate filings as needed.
• Coordinate with victims on restitution and inform them of rights under state law.
• Monitor changes in laws and adjust prosecution practices accordingly.
