The role combines courtroom advocacy with public law counseling, requiring strong trial skills, judgment under pressure, and a commitment to public service across multiple jurisdictions.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
• Active, good standing membership in the State Bar.
• 1–3 years of municipal law, land use, or civil litigation experience preferred.
• Ability to manage a dense docket and participate in trials.
• Strong written and oral communication and negotiation skills.

Responsibilities

• Represent City in municipal court proceedings, including arraignments, pre-trial hearings, bench trials, jury trials, and post-conviction hearings.
• Draft complaints, motions, subpoenas, and other pleadings.
• Manage high-volume docket and respond to discovery requests.
• Negotiate plea agreements and provide legal guidance on public records laws.
• Advise on ordinances, contracts, and regulatory frameworks.
