Qualifications
- Juris Doctorate required.
- 3 years of relevant work experience required.
- Admission to practice law in Missouri; active member in good standing with the Missouri Bar.
- Equivalent education, training and experience may be considered.
Responsibilities
- Conduct moderately complex legal research and draft opinions for departments and officials.
- Draft and prepare various legal correspondences with opposing counsel and the public.
- Draft, review and redraft contracts, resolutions, ordinances and related documents.
- Represent the County in civil and municipal litigation and hearings; file pleadings and manage discovery.
- Prosecute municipal matters including traffic, code violations, and animal violations.
- Address land use matters, zoning, and condemnation-related actions under supervision.
- Participate in negotiations and settlements aligned with County policy.
- Represent local hospitals in mental health detention hearings when required.
- Maintain CLE compliance and engage in professional development.
