Job summary

Boswell Engineering in New Jersey is seeking a Construction Inspector to perform on-site inspection of heavy highway and bridge projects for municipal clients. You will prepare daily inspection reports, sketches, and data for field changes while ensuring contractor compliance with plans and safety standards.

The role requires interpreting plans/specifications, prior NJ experience preferred, and a valid driver’s license for site access and travel. Night/weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret plans and specifications and accurately document collected data.
• Previous employment as Construction Inspector on roadways/highways in NJ preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required.
• US work eligibility is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site inspection of heavy highway, bridge rehabilitation/replacement projects for municipal clients.
• Daily inspection reporting and data sketches for field changes.
• Ensure contractor work complies with plans, specs, and contract documents.
• Assist Resident Engineer, Office Engineer, or Chief Inspector with item tracking and safety compliance.

Therefore, we deliver on-demand, sound, and state-of-the-art integrated engineering solutions to satisfy the complex needs of the sectors we serve.We are re-hiring former Boswell Employees who are skilled and experienced in Municipal Highway Construction Inspection in New Jersey (NJ), including highway, culvert, rail and bridge projects involving NYSDOT, NJDOT, NJTA.Responsibilities:Perform on-site inspection of various heavy highway and/or bridge rehabilitation/ replacement, culverts, resurfacing, and roadway safety improvement projects for municipal clientsDaily inspection efforts on projects of varied complexity and size in order to ensure contractors operations comply with project plans, specifications, and contract documentsComplete daily inspection reportsPrepare sketches and assemble data to utilize when making field changes to the projectProvide on-site inspection to ensure adequate inspection of contractor’s work, safety protocols, are in conformance with the contract plans and specificationsAssist Resident Engineer, Office Engineer and/or Chief Inspection in keeping track of pay items, MPT compliance, site safety, contract specific requirements, and reporting any deviationsAssure general compliance with the client’s standards and specificationsPerform both office and field Construction Inspection dutiesAdhere to internal standards, policies and proceduresPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Proven Ability to interpret plans/ specifications and properly document collected dataPrior Employment/ Work experience with Boswell as a Construction Inspector on Roadways OR Highways in NJ - prior work experience with townships and municipalities preferred but is not requiredValid driver’s license and reliable transportation as well as current US work eligibility preferredAbility and flexibility to work nights and/or weekends as requiredWe recognize that the best way to provide services of the highest quality is by investing in our employees.
