Job summary

The City of Goldsboro is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker to perform unskilled to semi-skilled manual labor across city grounds. Primary duties include mowing, trimming, loading materials, and operating a range of tools.

The role requires following safety rules, basic maintenance of equipment, and assisting in drainage and building tasks as needed. Responsibilities include applying lawn care products, keeping logs, and supporting other departments during events.

Qualifications

• High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
• One year of maintenance work or related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Responsibilities

• Mow grass and trim bushes and trees.
• Load and haul materials, soil, dirt, etc.
• Operate gas, electric, and hand tools like weed eaters, blowers, rakes, shovels, hedge trimmers, chainsaws.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mowers and equipment.
• Apply fertilizers, pesticides, fungicides, and herbicides as directed.
• Assist with cleaning catch basins and drainage structures.
• Assist with building maintenance tasks and city events setup.
• Prepare daily logs and reports on tasks completed.
