Job summary

Gfoat is seeking a GIS professional for the Engineering department to create and maintain city-wide GIS datasets such as zoning, land use, and utilities. The role requires research of legal documents and field data collection with mobile devices to support council and staff with accurate maps.

The ideal candidate will have experience with ESRI ArcGIS, and a high school diploma with an associate degree in GIS or a related field.

Qualifications

Must have high school diploma or GED plus an associate degree or equivalent in GIS/geography/CS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent in GIS/geography/CS preferred
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS required
Knowledge of AutoCAD or Python scripting or municipal government is a plus

Responsibilities

Create and maintain city-wide GIS datasets (zoning, land use, water and sewer)
Research and interpret construction plans, deeds, plats and legal documents
Maintain and organize the engineering department's construction documents
Collect field data using Trimble GPS, iPads, or other mobile devices
Produce maps for council presentations, citizens and staff on request
Assist city departments and stakeholders to assess GIS needs and implement solutions
Coordinate with Lamar County Appraisal District and ArkTex COG to obtain up-to-date GIS data and report errors or new developments
Perform other duties as assigned
