Job summary

Hancock Engineering Company in Westchester, IL is seeking a motivated Stormwater & Municipal Engineer to build a long-term career with a growing municipal consulting firm serving communities around Chicagoland.

You will lead hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, manage municipal infrastructure projects, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with clients from planning through construction.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
  • EI certification or PE license preferred.
  • 2–10 years of experience in municipal engineering and/or water resources.
  • Experience with HydroCAD, HEC-HMS, PCSWMM, HydroFlow, Civil 3D, OpenRoads, and/or ArcGIS.
  • Strong communication skills with a client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for sanitary, stormwater, and combined sewer system projects using PCSWMM, HEC-HMS, or similar software.
  • Lead and manage municipal infrastructure projects, including roadway, drainage, sanitary sewer, and water distribution improvements.
  • Guide engineering design decisions and ensure high-quality project deliverables.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support the development of the engineering team.
  • Prepare Location Drainage Studies and Drainage Technical Memorandums for federally and state-funded projects.
  • Collaborate with municipal clients and project stakeholders from planning through construction.

We're seeking a motivated Stormwater & Municipal Engineer who wants to build a long-term career with a growing municipal consulting firm serving communities throughout the Chicagoland area.

What You'll Do
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for sanitary, stormwater, and combined sewer system projects using PCSWMM, HEC-HMS, or similar software.
  • Lead and manage municipal infrastructure projects, including roadway, drainage, sanitary sewer, and water distribution improvements.
