Town of Brookline seeks a detail-driven Business Manager to oversee the DPW Central Administration's central business operations, financial processing, budgeting, and contract administration in Brookline, MA.

This full-time role includes supervising administrative staff, improving customer service platforms, coordinating payroll, and supporting permitting functions while ensuring accuracy and compliance in a fast-paced municipal environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, public administration or related field; five years of municipal or business financial administration experience including supervision.
• Experience with purchasing, payroll, billing, and financial tracking in a municipal setting.
• Ability to operate accounting and billing systems and produce accurate records.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage DPW central business operations, including customer service, accounts payable/receivable, and contract administration.
• Prepare purchase orders, vouchers, and vendor payments; maintain financial tracking and reports.
• Administer contracts, coordinate with staff and vendors; oversee utility accounts and budgeting.
• Lead onboarding/offboarding, staff training, and ensure accurate records and compliance.
