Job summary

Office of the New York State Comptroller seeks Auditors at three levels (Trainee 1, Trainee 2, and full performance Auditor 1) to conduct financial and performance audits of counties, towns, villages, schools, and state districts. The role involves interviews, developing audit scope and tests, analyzing findings, preparing audit reports, and providing technical assistance to local government entities.

Positions are based in Rochester, NY and require travel within the assigned regional office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 24 semester credit hours in accounting and/or auditing.
• Strong analytical and communication skills (written and verbal).
• Knowledge of technology and good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with stakeholders to gather information and insights.
• Develop audit scope and tests based on identified risks.
• Analyze findings and prepare audit reports with clear conclusions.
• Provide technical assistance to local government entities during audits.
