Its education practice serves public and charter schools, community college districts, educational auxiliary organizations, and other public and private clients across California. The firm advises clients on labor and collective bargaining, management and employment, facilities and construction, and general education law. Team members join a practice dedicated to public service, complex governance issues, and long-term client relationships.

Role Description The Municipal Advisory Attorney is a full-time, on-site role based in La Mesa, CA. This attorney will advise public agency clients on public agency law matters including the Ralph M. Brown Act, the California Public Records Act, the Political Reform Act, public agency bidding and procurement laws, Proposition 218 (taxes, assessments, and fees etc.), and election law matters. Candidate must be admitted by the California Bar, have excellent legal research and writing skills, and have experience drafting, reviewing, and editing ordinances, resolutions, and various types of contracts. Candidate should have 2-5 years of focused experience in the public agency law field and possess strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Law, with demonstrated experience in municipal or public agency practice.
• Knowledge of Labor and Employment Law, including public sector labor relations and collective bargaining.
• Ability to provide clear, practical Legal Advice to public officials, administrators, and governing boards.
• Advanced Research skills for statutes, regulations, case law, and agency guidance related to public entities.
• Effective Negotiation skills for labor agreements, contracts, and interagency arrangements.
• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in the California State Bar.
• Experience working with cities, special districts, or education institutions is preferred.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in accessible terms.
• Demonstrated judgment, professionalism, and ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines.
• Commitment to ethical practice, public service, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary legal team.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
