Job summary

The City of Kirkwood, Missouri, is seeking an Accountant to perform professional accounting functions, maintain financial records, support reporting and budgeting, and assist with the annual audit.

The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, integrity, and the ability to work independently while collaborating with multiple departments. Proficiency in Excel and municipal software is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Two years of professional accounting experience.
• Experience with municipal financial management software (Tyler/Munis) preferred.
• Working knowledge of GAAP and GASB.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile daily cash receipts and prepare daily cash posting reconciliations.
• Review bank activity and record transactions in the general ledger promptly and accurately.
• Prepare and complete bank and credit card reconciliations and other monthly reconciliations.
• Review and oversee payroll postings and monthly P-card transactions in the ledger.
• Prepare general ledger entries and assist with monthly/ quarterly financial reports.
• Assist with annual audit preparation and coordinate with external auditors.
• Provide financial information and guidance to City departments.
