Job description

Job Description

Employment Duration: 6 months (w/ potential to be extended)

The UCSF Dyslexia Center ( https://dyslexia.ucsf.edu/ ) focuses on improving diagnosis, care, and interventions for children and adults with learning challenges and includes principal investigators across the Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry. The multidisciplinary research team includes neuroscientists, geneticists, and clinicians across language, reading, cognition, aging, visuospatial, and social domains who examine the whole person throughout the lifespan. This approach helps characterize the strengths and weaknesses associated with dyslexia and develop interventions and educational strategies to help children with dyslexia thrive.

The Dyslexia Center has developed Multitudes ( https://multitudesinfo.ucsf.edu/ ), a state-funded early reading screening tool for kindergarten through second-grade students. Available at no cost to California public schools, Multitudes assists educators in identifying possible reading obstacles, supporting early intervention, and highlighting student strengths. Grounded in the latest research in the neuroscience of reading, the platform is designed to identify students who may experience reading difficulty and provide actionable results and practical next steps for educators.

The Multitudes Training Specialist supports the statewide implementation of Multitudes by facilitating virtual and in-person training sessions for educators throughout California. Working as part of a dynamic, interdisciplinary team, the Training Specialist helps users adopt and effectively implement the Multitudes platform and screener with K–2 students.
