Job summary

Maintenance Assistants provide semi-skilled support across carpentry, electrical, plumbing and related trades under supervision. The role involves using hand tools, measuring instruments and shop equipment to perform repairs, renovations and routine maintenance of facilities.

Occasional overtime and travel may be required. Candidates must read and write English, follow directions, and demonstrate reliability.

Qualifications

• Two years of full-time maintenance or mechanical work experience.
• OR completion of a two-year technical school.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and able to read and write in English.
• Able to work at heights and lift 50+ lbs; outdoor work in varying weather.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine semi-skilled maintenance and repair of facility services and equipment.
• Perform grounds maintenance, cleaning, painting and minor repairs.
• Troubleshoot facility problems and coordinate with supervision.
• May supervise subordinates and assist with the Nonmilitary Use Program.
