Edwards Tree & Land Clearing Services in Ohio seeks an experienced accounting professional to own the General Ledger across multiple entities, manage monthly close, bank reconciliations, and year-end schedules. The role handles payroll taxes, 401(k) remittances, and multi-state compliance.

You will oversee grant reporting, licensing support, and confidential records, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience with online payroll tax filings (Federal, State, Local)
• Proficiency in Foundation software, Quicken, Excel, and Word
• Familiarity with Ohio Business Gateway (preferred)
• Experience performing bank reconciliations for multiple entities
• Strong general ledger and month-end close experience
• Experience with 401(k) remittances and census processes
• Knowledge of workers’ compensation true-ups and multi-state compliance issues
• Sales tax filing experience and familiarity with IFTA and Heavy Vehicle Use Tax
• Experience preparing year-end schedules for CPAs
• Strong documentation, record retention, and confidentiality practices
• Notary commission or willingness to become a notary
• Ability to research and apply for grants
• Knowledge of FMCSA requirements and state DOT regulations (ODOT, KDOT, PENNDOT)
• Multi-state licensing or the ability to coordinate licensing (WV, KY) and Master Logger requirements is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own the General Ledger and monthly financial statement preparation for multiple companies (monthly close)
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations for up to 8 companies
• Prepare year-end schedules and documentation for external CPAs
• Manage payroll tax filings online at Federal, State, and Local levels
• Process 401(k) weekly payments and prepare annual census information
• Administer workers’ compensation annual true-up and monitor multi-state issues
• Prepare and file Sales Tax returns monthly; file IFTA and HVUT
• Support FMCSA, ODOT, KDOT, PENNDOT requirements and maintain records for compliance
• Maintain record retention systems and confidentiality of sensitive information
• Apply for relevant grants and manage related reporting
• Maintain out-of-state licensing support and Master Logger certifications as needed
• Assist with notary duties and maintain good documentation practices
