Qualifications

• Must have relevant clinical competence in area of nursing practice; new graduates possess current knowledge of the nursing process and its application.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse with current registration in New York State (NYS).
• Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

• Assists in development, implementation, and evaluation of standards of care and professional practice.
• Assesses and evaluates patient needs and responses to care; applies sound nursing judgment.
• Provides direct, continuous care for a caseload using the nursing process.
• Coordinates patient care activities and discharge planning; delegates to health care team.
• Communicates effectively with patients and families about plan of care.
• Participates in performance improvement and nursing quality activities.
• Supports mission and ethics; maintains professional growth and development.
• Participates in risk management and quality assurance activities.
• Encourages learning, inquiry, and research within self and colleagues.

Education

BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing)

ADN/ Diploma (hired prior to Jan 1995)

ADN/ Diploma with BSN program enrollment within 1 year
