Job summary

The West Region Float Patient Care Technician at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital serves as a member of the West Region Resource Team, floating across units and hospitals to support diverse patient populations.

You will perform basic nursing care under RN supervision, assist with daily living activities, monitor vital signs, and help with mobility, documentation, and communication to ensure safe, efficient care across multiple sites within NM West Region.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Nursing students who have completed one clinical rotation.
• Certified Nursing Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant, Emergency Medical Technician, or nursing students with one semester of clinical completed.
• CPR – Basic Life Support.

Responsibilities

• Performs basic nursing care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including monitoring vital signs and recording intake and output.
• Assists patients with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming and eating.
• Assists patient with application of assistive devices and prosthetics/orthoses per patient program.
• Performs preventive skin care and reports changes to the nurse.
• Assists patients with transfers and mobility using proper techniques and equipment.
• Assists with bladder and bowel elimination and collection of specimens.
• Provides patient meal support and assists with menu planning as directed.
