Job summary

FirstService Residential in Kansas City is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to service 160+ properties. Responsibilities include plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, and general upkeep, with a focus on safety and high-quality work.

You will work with a supervisor, lead projects when needed, and support skilled trades across residential communities. The role requires 2 years in construction, strong problem solving, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; vocational school or trade apprent. a plus.
• Two years of previous experience in construction required.
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift up to 40 pounds.
• Able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management.
• Computer skills and knowledge of iPhone applications.

Responsibilities

• Perform plumbing, electrical, mechanical and general maintenance for 160+ properties.
• Prepare residential construction sites by organizing materials, tools and equipment.
• Receive project instructions from the construction manager or supervisor and complete assigned tasks.
• Assist with site preparation activities such as digging, grading, moving dirt, and compacting soil.
• Operate hand tools and power equipment safely and efficiently.
• Follow safety regulations and wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses, ear protection).
• Support carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and painters as needed.
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding plans and progress.
• Learn new skills from experienced coworkers to expand capabilities.
