Job summary

PIH Health Whittier Hospital seeks a Medical Assistant to provide clinical and administrative support under the supervision of a licensed practitioner. The MA will assist with patient intake, basic clinical procedures, specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and care coordination across clinic locations as needed.

Required qualifications include a current BLS certification, venipuncture training, a high school diploma or GED, and completion of an accredited MA program.

Qualifications

• BLS certification from American Heart Association.
• Phlebotomy training from an accredited MA program.
• Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
• Strong verbal and written English communication.
• Spanish bilingual skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform clinical and administrative tasks under licensed practitioner supervision.
• Assist with patient intake and care coordination.
• Collect specimens and support point-of-care testing as delegated.
• Documentation and coding support, including referrals and authorizations.
• Maintain competency and comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
