Job summary

Saab, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Specialist to support daily operations and maintenance of our physical facilities. Based at the Bristol, RI facility, this role offers intermittent support at Cranston, RI, and Quincy, MA locations.

The role involves furniture moves, carpentry, basic electrical work, painting, cleaning, and preventive maintenance, plus supporting MEP systems and coordinating with vendors and contractors. Travel between sites is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience.
• Healthcare, academic, or manufacturing environment experience.
• Ability to exercise good judgment.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to effectively use hand and power tools and other equipment.
• Able to troubleshoot facilities issues using analytical problem-solving.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to obtain a Security Clearance for classified work areas.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily operations and maintenance of the company's physical facilities.
• Perform general handyman and maintenance duties including furniture moves, basic electrical projects, spot painting, cleaning, light construction, exterior cleanup.
• Perform office furniture setups, carpentry, janitorial, and general building maintenance activities.
• Perform building and equipment repairs and basic plumbing repairs.
• Troubleshoot industrial electrical systems and support the maintenance of MEP systems.
• Perform building preventive maintenance.
• Operate site equipment and use hand and power tools as necessary.
• Work with outside contractors on building and equipment repairs.
• Provide support to vendors and contractors, including security personnel, cafeteria operations, and media relations, as needed.
• Perform interoffice mail deliveries and support wastepaper recycling and other waste management activities.
• Support custodial activities and stock employee break areas.
• Provide audio-visual (AV) setup support for meetings and conferences.
• Maintain facility documentation such as diagrams and space usage information.
• Assist in hosting corporate visitors.
• Develop advanced facilities maintenance competencies as role evolves, including leading vendors and routine MEP repairs.
• Use tools and analytical problem-solving to diagnose and resolve facilities issues.
• Exercise sound judgment when resolving issues and formulating recommendations.
• Communicate project updates and technical results clearly to customers and stakeholders.
• Maintain frequent internal and occasional external professional contacts.
• Travel intermittently between Bristol, Cranston, and Quincy facilities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
