Job summary

The Nexstar Media Group, Inc. station in San Angelo, TX is seeking a Meteorologist to forecast weather conditions and present clear, engaging reports across all platforms.

You will write and deliver weather stories, shoot video, and contribute to weather coverage on air, online, and social media. Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree in Meteorology (or related field) and up to 2 years of weather presentation experience; proficiency with ENPS and non-linear editing is a plus, and flexibility

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Meteorology or related field, or equivalent combination.
• Entry level to 2 years’ experience in weather presentation and reporting preferred.
• Must be able to shoot video and perform non-linear editing. Knowledge of ENPS helpful.
• Proficiency with WSI Max is helpful.
• Ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Produce and present weather/news reports for all platforms.
• Ensure that all weather/news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Write and deliver weather stories in a clear and concise manner.
• Assist in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating weather programming and other content.
• Respond to breaking and/or severe weather events and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
• Work closely with the weather team to develop comprehensive weather coverage.
• Participate in promotional activities including public appearances.
• Write web stories detailing the local forecast on a daily basis.
• Interact with viewers and users on social media sites.
• Ability to shoot pictures and edit stories from beginning to end.
