Job summary

Dartmouth Health in Lebanon, NH seeks a Multi-Modality Diagnostic Imaging Technologist who performs high quality imaging across mammography, MRI, CT and ultrasound under the direction of the Imaging Manager and Medical Director.

You will ensure patient safety and comfort, maintain competency on all equipment, participate in quality control, and support a smooth department workflow while contributing to staff and patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an AMA Accredited School of Radiological Technology.
• Board Certified by ARRT and a member of ARRT.
• Advanced certification in specialty through the ARRT (Mammography, MRI, CT, or Ultrasound).
• Current BCLS certification required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform high quality diagnostic imaging with optimal patient care.
• Maintain competency for all equipment and perform quality control measures.
• Ensure patient safety, proper identification, and efficient department flow.
• Utilize specialty modalities (Mammography, MRI, CT, Ultrasound) as required.
• Support department standards with clinical governance and on-call rotation as applicable.

PART TWO: FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITY

• Position Objective

  The Multi-Modality Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, in support and at the direction of the Manager and Director of Diagnostic Imaging, and in collaboration with the Medical Director performs high quality diagnostic imaging with optimal patient care. The Multi-Modality Diagnostic Imaging Technologist works effectively to continually promote and sustain a high preforming, professional, and efficient department while ensuring continuous quality care, patient and staff satisfaction and safety, and optimal patient access.

  Perform as a Diagnostic Imaging Technologist and a Specialty Diagnostic Imaging Technologist, and not scheduled more than 80% of their work time in either role.

• Performance Expectation

  • To ensure high quality diagnostic imaging
    • Follow all hospital policies and procedures.
    • Achieve and maintain comprehensive competency skills for all equipment used.
    • Perform all quality control measures to assure equipment is functioning properly.
    • Keep current with the latest technology, trends, and best practice.
    • Consistently produce high quality images
  • To support optimal Patient Care
    • Clean and prep exam rooms after every patient procedure.
    • Complete proper patient identification prior to every patient procedure.
    • Adjust equipment for each examination, position and instruct patients, and determine proper voltage, current and desired exposure time for each radiograph using A.L.A.R.A principles.
    • Use immobilization and support devices to obtain precise patient positioning and lessen patient discomfort
    • Continually assess processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Maintains a smooth and orderly flow of patients through the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
    • Equitable participation in the on-call rotation, as applicable.
  • To perform in a Specialty Modality
    • Utilizes the additional training, knowledge and expertise in the specialty modalities of Mammography, MRI, CT or Ultrasound
    • Performs specialized and complex Diagnostic Imaging procedures as required in the specialty modalities of Mammography, MRI, CT and Ultrasound.
  • To support a professional and safe environment
    • Maintain standards that align departmental practice with applicable governing bodies:
      • American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT)
      • American College of Radiology (ACR)
      • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
      • The New Hampshire Department of Radiologic Health
      • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
    • Provide input and support for department and hospital goals and initiatives.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    • Proactively participate in self-appraisal and self-reflection.
    • Participate in educational opportunities.
    • Meet continuing education and proficiency requirements for maintaining ARRT and ACR certification.
    • Keep current in professional readings.
