Job summary

City of Sandy Springs is seeking a Traffic Engineer to support the development and management of a safe and efficient multimodal transportation network in Sandy Springs, GA. The role offers opportunities to contribute to mobility, safety, and quality of life for residents and visitors.

The engineer will assist in planning, analysis, and implementation of traffic projects, engage with city leadership and stakeholders, and support public events and community engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (transportation or traffic focus preferred).
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certification required.
• Valid Georgia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support in the design, review, and implementation of traffic engineering and public works projects.
• Conduct traffic capacity and operations analyses, safety studies, and field investigations.
• Develop and evaluate plans for traffic control, signing, and striping in accordance with local, state, and federal standards.
• Support the City’s Intersection Operations and Safety Program and Traffic Calming Program through data analysis, coordination with stakeholders, and preparation of engineering recommendations.
• Assist with the review of traffic control plans for utilities, construction, special events, and land disturbance permits.
• Prepare professional reports, technical memoranda, and responses for internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, management, and the public.
• Participate in public meetings as needed to present findings and support community engagement.
