Job summary

ARES Corporation seeks a Multimedia Systems Engineer in Houston to design, install, and configure Microsoft Teams Rooms certified systems in NASA collaboration spaces. You will lead projects, conduct technical analyses, and ensure compliance with NASA standards and security requirements.

You will collaborate with product owners and customers, document procedures, and participate in lifecycle planning while travel to sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires BA/BS degree and 5 years of related experience.
• Must hold a Microsoft Teams Rooms certification.
• U.S. citizenship required.
• Experience installing and configuring Teams Rooms appliance-based systems.
• Familiar with NASA standards, 508 compliance, and energy-savings standards.

eMITS is seeking a Multimedia Systems Engineer to support the Workplace & Collaboration Services (WCS) in delivering innovative, consistent, and secure collaboration solutions. This role is responsible for engineering, installing, configuring, testing, and documenting Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR)-certified equipment in NASA-managed collaboration spaces. The candidate must demonstrate hands-on expertise, technical judgment, and strong leadership skills to ensure spaces are designed and operated in alignment with NASA standards and mission requirements.

eMITS is NASA’s enterprise-level service for delivering multimedia, IT communication platforms, and digital content supporting the Agency’s mission. From capturing rocket launches to delivering enterprise IT solutions and digital outreach, eMITS integrates mission-critical communications across NASA OCIO and OCOMM. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, install and configure Microsoft Teams Rooms certified, appliance-based systems, including compute appliances, touch consoles, cameras, microphones, speakers, displays, and content ingest
• Manage multiple project tasks simultaneously and provide daily/weekly activity reporting.
• Provide support for technical analysis for new hardware systems, upgrades, risk assessments, and implementation plans.
• Participate in standards maintenance, assessment, and continual improvement, including commenting on NASA standards changes and hardware evaluation
• Participate in the review and technically evaluate custom/non-standard room approaches, minimizing complexity and maximizing usability
• Contribute to system obsolescence planning, lifecycle tracking, and upgrade/replacement roadmaps (5-7 year planning horizon).
• Participate in engineering activities and meetings with Product Owners, customers, and stakeholders.
• Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel for face-to-face meetings, room installation/configuration/acceptance, technical evaluation/site survey, and center visits as needed
• Maintain relevant Microsoft Teams Rooms-related certifications.

EDUCATION & WORK REQUIREMENTS:

• Requires minimum BA/BS and 5 years of related experience as well as hold a relevant certification for engineering Microsoft Collaboration Systems.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Demonstrated experience installing, and configuring Microsoft Teams Rooms certified, appliance-based systems, including compute appliances, touch consoles, cameras, microphones, speakers, displays, and content ingest
• Must possess current, relevant Microsoft Teams Rooms-related certifications (must be maintained as technology and MTR device list evolves)
• Be familiar with Compliance with EPEAT, Section 508, and energy-savings standards
• Proven familiarity in engineering collaboration spaces as complete audio/video systems, including room sizing, camera coverage, microphone pickup, speaker coverage, display readability, cabling, and signal flow
• Ability to understand engineering documentation and installation guides; experience with version-controlled repositories (e.g., NASA SharePoint Online)
• Strong understanding of balancing functionality, interoperability, security, supportability, cost, and end-user simplicity
• Experience with appliance-based deployments that do not require third-party AV control system infrastructure
• Expertise in network configuration, device enrollment (WCS Intune or equivalent), and compliance with Agency Security Configuration Standards
• Ability to evaluate spaces as complete systems, confirming usability, installation quality, lifecycle readiness, and operational handoff
• Knowledge and experience with installation verification and acceptance procedures, including camera capture/framing, microphone pickup and noise rejection, display readability, speaker coverage, and physical security
• Familiarity with Common Room Components requirements: resource mailbox/Entra ID join, one-touch join touch panel, USB-C/HDMI content ingest, secured cabling, cable cubby, dual network drops, dedicated power, and centralized management
• Understanding of developing and maintaining engineering documentation, installation guides, and end-user training materials; ensuring Section 508 compliance
• Demonstrated ability to technically evaluate custom/non-standard room approaches, minimizing complexity and maximizing usability
• Proven ability to participate in standards maintenance, assessment, and continual improvement, including commenting on NASA standards changes and hardware evaluation.
• Strong organizational, presentation, and customer service skills; ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to think, plan, and work independently while meeting deadlines.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with co-workers, customers, and cross-functional teams.
• Proven ability to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously and provide daily/weekly project reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, OneNote, OneDrive), as well as SharePoint and Box.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience supporting NASA, aerospace, DoD, or other large federal technical environments.
• Industry-recognized certifications in audio/video engineering, IT systems integration, or related fields
• Experience coordinating with NASA facility teams for needed building modifications like power, and network configurations.
• Experience supporting risk-based decisions, system security plan documentation, and coordination with engineering and service delivery leads
• Experience providing training and training materials on collaboration and conference rooms
• Experience working in sensitive or mission-critical environments, with awareness of federal IT security protocols and data handling standards.
