Job summary

Nexstar Media Group Inc. is seeking a Digital Content Producer/MMJ for WesternSlopeNow.com and KREX in Grand Junction, CO. The role focuses on creating and updating local news, shooting and editing video, and publishing to our website, app, and social media.

The candidate will manage multiple tasks, meet strict deadlines, and contribute to growing local reach. A Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent experience is required, with fluent English and a valid driver’s license.

• Review copy to ensure style and accuracy according to editorial guidelines.

This is a fast-paced multi-media position where the qualified candidate will create and update local news in the viewing area, and get the opportunity to shoot and edit video for reports. Duties Include:

• Publish at least 10 items per shift.
• Create content for local hard news stories for website, app or broadcast.
• Post engaging copy, video and other content to drive web traffic.
• Review copy of other MMJs to enhance style and correct errors in content, grammar and punctuation, following prescribed editorial style and formatting guidelines.

Requirements & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift

COMPENSATION RANGE:

Annual Salary: $15.80 an hour, commensurate with experience
