Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, Communications, preferred or a related field of study.
• Technical Skills: Expert proficiency with non-linear video editing (Adobe Premiere or Bit Central) and professional broadcast field cameras.
• Writing Mastery: AP writing style, grammar, and syntax across digital and on-air copy.
• Communication: Strong on-camera presence, clear vocal delivery, and the ability to ad-lib during breaking news or live field reports.
• Flexibility: Ability to adapt to nights, weekends, and holidays, especially during severe weather.
• Driving Record: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Reporting: Research, enterprise, shoot, write, voice, and edit high-impact news stories for daily broadcasts under tight deadlines.
• Digital Content Development: Write, package, and optimize breaking news stories, features, and digital extras for the website and mobile platforms.
• Audience Engagement: Manage social media, interact with viewers/readers, and track traffic with metrics tools.
• Source Cultivation: Gather and verify information via community contacts, field interviews, and public records.
• Creative Pitching: Participate in editorial meetings to pitch community-focused stories.
• Technical Execution: Operate field live transmission units (TVU) and capture high-quality visuals.
