Job summary

TelevisaUnivision, Inc. in Chicago seeks an MMJ to join our News Department. You will gather, shoot, write, edit, and report stories for local broadcasts and online platforms, acting as a one-person-band on many pieces.

You’ll work nights and weekends, build community contacts, and deliver enterprise reporting with strong storytelling. A valid driver’s license and SAG-AFTRA eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred (multimedia, journalism, television broadcasting).
• 2+ newsroom experience required; or equivalent education/experience.
• Excellent command of Spanish and English both written and verbal.
• Able to use newsroom computer systems and applications (hardware/software).
• Knowledge of iNews, video editing (Adobe Premiere and Adobe Creative Cloud preferred).
• High ethical and journalistic standards.
• Advanced knowledge in field cameras, gear and editing systems.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Able to sit, stand and walk for up to 8 hours.
• Able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds.
• This position will require SAG-AFTRA membership.

Responsibilities

• Post videos, pictures and stories to websites, Facebook, and other social media outlets or streaming platforms.
• Maintain strong familiarity with local, state, and national news and events across our coverage area.

• Work independently in the field and in various weather conditions.

About The Role & Team

The News Department at N+ Univision Chicago is looking for an MMJ to join our team! The successful candidate should be proud of the commitment to serving our local community. This role will work as MMJ gathering, shooting, and editing own material.

About You

The MMJ will research, enterprise, develop, write, shoot and edit stories on deadline for recorded or live newscasts. MMJs are responsible for crafting compelling stories through creative shots, engaging visuals, and strong storytelling that connects with audiences on air and online. You will build strong relationships with community leaders, government officials, and local authorities. MMJs will present reports in a clear, concise, objective manner; as well as present enterprising stories and sweeps series ideas. You are a team player with solid news judgment and must be a "one-person band" to complete a story from beginning to end. You must be able to work independently with the camera, write, edit your own story, and interact with the viewers through all the Univision media platforms. You will report to the News Director.

YOUR DAY-DAY: (aka Responsibilities)

YOU HAVE: (aka Qualifications)

• A bachelor’s degree is preferred (i.e., multimedia, journalism, television broadcasting).
• 2+ newsroom experience required; or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Excellent command of Spanish and English both written and verbal.
• Applicants must be able to use newsroom computer systems and applications (both hardware/software).
• Knowledge of iNews, video editing (Adobe Premiere and Adobe creative cloud preferred), and file sharing systems preferred.
• High ethical and journalistic standards.
• Advanced knowledge in the use of field cameras, gear and editing systems.
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• A valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Ability to sit, stand and walk for up to (8) hours without restrictions.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds for extended periods of time.
• This position will require the employee to be a member or join SAG-AFTRA.

Base pay Range: $82,000 - $87,500
