Job summary

The Learning Community in Central Falls, RI is seeking a Multilingual Learner Teacher (MLL) to join a collaborative public charter school focused on literacy and social justice. This is a full-time teacher of record role supporting multilingual students academically and socio-emotionally along with a team of reading and ELL/MLL specialists.

Salary ranges from $48,493 to $93,703 with comprehensive benefits. The role requires RI ELL/MLL certification and a commitment to reflective practice,

Qualifications

  • RI ELL/MLL certification required or in process.

Job Description

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Reports to & collaborates with Deputy Head of School and Multilingual Learner (MLL) Coordinator
  • Works with a collaborative team of reading and ELL/MLL teachers
  • Create and/or contribute to Personalized Literacy Plans aligned to school, teacher, and student needs.
  • Providing consultation to general and/or special education team members regarding student needs and best practices.
  • Provide direct literacy and language intervention support to individuals and small groups.
  • Ensure effective and aligned implementation of curricula and research and monitor to ensure that high-quality curricular products are put in front of students.
  • Review data as a means of informing planning and supporting teachers to make informed decisions to drive student achievement.
  • Actively monitor student progress and makes instructional decisions based on student achievement data.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records of student progress connected to learning goals.
  • Remaining current with appropriate instructional theory, practice, and research. Engaging in regular and strategic professional development to stay current in best practices for diverse learners.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • To be considered for this position, all candidates must be certified or in the process of certification in the state of Rhode Island for their certification in ELL/MLL and must be U.S. citizens or residents or have work visas. In addition, they must demonstrate:
  • Demonstrates reflective practices and a willingness to improve their own performance.
  • Understands the role of formative & summative assessment data in planning for tiered instruction for all students.
  • Maintains high expectations & positive regard for all students and staff.
  • Collaborates with team members to create and maintain inclusive, supportive, and responsive learning environments.
  • Demonstrates an understanding and/or willingness to learn about and act on social issues that affect students (race, class, ability status, etc.).
  • Experience working with ELL/MLL population preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Salary, Benefits and Other Details:

Workday. This position is a full-time, teacher of record role based at the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, Rhode Island. All teachers are expected to work 7:45-3:15 pm most days except for Wednesdays where the hours are 7:45am-4:45pm due to whole team meetings, with planning daily, including shared team prep time and lunch/break time every day. Additionally, the individual will be required to attend Summer Institute in August prior to the start of each school year.

Salary. For this role, our budgeted compensation range is $48,493-$93,703, with $48,493 representing the junior-most step in our scale and $93,703 representing the senior-most step in our scale.
