Job summary

Hello Neighbor in Pittsburgh, PA is seeking contracted interpreters to support resettlement and family services. The role involves in-person assignments at our office in Larimer, community sites, as well as phone and virtual interpretation.

Paid training is provided and candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. Candidates must be fluent in English and at least one non-English language (Pashto, Swahili, French, Somali, or Spanish).

Responsibilities

• Render accurate meanings and concepts between source and target languages while preserving original intent
• Maintain transparency with no additions or omissions during interpretation
• Provide clear enunciation and professional communication
• Render sight translations of documents
• Explain cultural concepts and act as a cultural broker
• Remain neutral and composed in emergencies and crises
• Demonstrate strong listening, retention, and note-taking for accuracy
• Ensure reliable internet access for virtual interpretation
