Job summary

Campbell Union High School District is seeking a part-time instructional support assistant to help Emergent Multilingual students in visual arts settings. This grant-funded role focuses on language development and academic support for students not yet proficient in English.

Under supervision of teachers, you will translate, reinforce lessons, monitor progress, and connect families with resources. The position offers bilingual incentives, health benefits options, and a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years college (48 semester units).
• Experience working with teenagers preferred.
• Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish or another language.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to type and operate basic office equipment.
• Ability to work with students in various settings to reinforce learning of material and skills initially introduced by the teacher.
• Ability to perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating, maintaining routine records, operate basic office equipment, and utilize basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Emergent Multilingual Learners to master grade-level content and skill standards initially introduced by the teacher.
• Provide in-the-moment support to fill gaps in students' background knowledge and skills and build academic habits.
• Assist students with using computer programs, reading, writing, math and other academic skills.
• Support Emergent Multilingual students to improve their comprehension and production of English.
• Translate oral or written English into students' primary language for students only as needed to support comprehension.
• Refer students to support services as needed and communicate regularly with teachers about student needs.
