Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years college (48 semester units).
• Experience working with teenagers is preferred.
• Ability to speak and write fluently in Spanish or another language.
• Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
• Ability to type and operate basic office equipment.
• Ability to work with students in various settings to reinforce learning.
• Ability to perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating, maintaining routine records, operate basic office equipment, and utilize basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Emergent Multilingual Learners to master grade-level content and skill standards initially introduced by the teacher.
• Provide in-the-moment support to fill gaps in students' background knowledge and skills, build academic habits, and master grade-level content.
• Assist students with using computer programs, reading, writing, math and other academic skills.
• Support Emergent Multilingual students to improve their comprehension and production of English.
• Translate oral or written English into students' primary language as needed to support comprehension and demonstration of knowledge.
• Supervise students and maintain order in the classroom and during activities.
• Orient and integrate new students into the school and inform them about policies and supports.
• Refer students to support services as needed.
