Job summary

Detroit Public Schools Community District is seeking an Academic Interventionist - Multilingual to support multilingual learners by adapting core content and delivering targeted interventions across district schools. The role is based at the central office and requires travel to schools to implement strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
• Evidence of coursework in Mathematics, English/ELA, Reading, Science or Bilingual.
• Minimum three years of actual work experience working directly with students.
• Understanding of and commitment to implementing academic intervention activities for students in grades 1-12.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively and collaborate with staff, families and community.
• Develop and contribute to a safe, welcoming campus climate.
• Work with families, students, and staff to implement individualized academic intervention plans.
• Assist the teacher with planning and facilitating instructional tasks for small groups.
• Differentiate instruction and academic support based on student needs.
• Collaborate with teachers to reinforce Mathematics, English/ELA or Reading and bilingual skills.
• Utilize technology to improve students' English proficiency.
• Monitor and assess student progress across multiple schools and adjust interventions.
• Communicate progress to school administrators, teachers and parents.
• Travel to various schools within the district to provide interventions for multilingual students.
• Develop and implement intervention plans tailored to students' language levels (WIDA).
• Collaborate with staff to integrate effective instructional strategies for multilingual learners.
