Job summary

At Cortland Grand River, a Maintenance Technician keeps the community safe, functional, and well‑maintained by diagnosing and repairing building systems. You will support preventative maintenance and help preserve property assets while delivering timely, professional service to residents.

Requirements include EPA certification, a high school diploma, 1–3+ years in maintenance or facilities, and strong skills across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building systems.

Qualifications

• EPA certification is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1–3+ years of maintenance, facilities, or multi‑family housing experience.
• Strong technical skills in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliance repair, and general building systems.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and handle multiple work orders.
• Strong attention to detail and problem solving abilities.
• Ability to operate tools and maintenance equipment safely.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to perform physical work including lifting, climbing ladders, and working indoors/outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Willingness to participate in on‑call schedules and emergencies.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and resolve maintenance issues across electrical, plumbing, HVAC, appliances, flooring, stairs, and other building components.
• Address unsafe conditions quickly and safely.
• Monitor and report on building and security systems such as automatic doors and cameras.
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC units and building systems.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and spare parts for timely work orders.
• Respond to on‑call rotations and emergency maintenance situations.
• Provide friendly, professional service to residents and team members.
• Document completed work and report recurring issues to supervisor.
