Job summary

Cortland is seeking a Service Technician to help create a safe, well-maintained living environment for residents. You will perform basic maintenance, support unit turnovers, maintain common spaces, and deliver prompt, friendly service across the community.

Ideal candidates bring 1-2+ years in maintenance or related work, are reliable and detail-oriented, and can work independently or in a team. This on-site role involves physical tasks and varied indoor/outdoor conditions.

Qualifications

• 1-2+ years of maintenance, facilities, or related work experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Basic knowledge of household repairs and use of hand tools (or willingness to learn).
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or within a team.
• Strong customer-service skills and a professional attitude.
• Ability to lift, carry, climb ladders, and work in various indoor/outdoor conditions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, painting, and general upkeep).
• Complete make-ready tasks to prepare vacant units for new residents.
• Maintain property appearance, including daily ground upkeep and trash removal.
• Respond promptly and professionally to resident service requests.
• Assist with preventative maintenance and seasonal projects.
• Report safety hazards or larger maintenance needs to supervisor.
