Job summary

Cortland is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our community safe, functional, and well-maintained by diagnosing and repairing building systems.

You will support preventative maintenance, document work, respond to on-call and emergency requests, and provide friendly, professional service to residents and team members.

EPA certification (Type I/II/Universal), a high school diploma or equivalent, 1–3+ years in maintenance, and the ability to lift, climb ladders, and work outdoors.

Qualifications

• EPA certification required (Type I, II, or Universal).
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1–3+ years of maintenance experience in multi-family housing.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, repair, and resolve maintenance issues involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, appliances, flooring, stairs, railings, and other building components.
• Correct unsafe conditions such as broken lights, damaged gates, open holes, or other hazards, ensuring issues are addressed quickly and safely.
• Support asset preservation by monitoring and reporting on the condition of building and security systems such as automatic doors and surveillance cameras.
• Schedule and perform preventative maintenance on HVAC units, equipment, and building systems to improve performance and reduce downtime.
• Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and spare parts to ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Respond to on-call rotations and emergency maintenance situations, assisting with both resident and property needs.
• Provide friendly, professional service when interacting with residents and team members.
• Document completed work and report recurring issues or safety concerns to your supervisor.
