Job summary

Interiors By Design is seeking an experienced Multifamily Interior Designer to join our growing team in Maryland. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of professional interior design experience with a focus on multifamily residential or hospitality projects.

Lead concepts from initial idea through design development and documentation, coordinating with clients, architects, contractors, vendors, and internal staff to deliver cohesive, on-time designs with meticulous detail.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional interior design experience.
  • Experience in multifamily residential, hospitality, or high-end projects.
  • Strong understanding of space planning, FF&E, finishes, and interior architecture.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentations.
  • Experience delivering complete design packages from concept to documentation.
  • Ability to read architectural and construction drawings.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop cohesive interior design concepts for multifamily communities, including common areas and residential interiors.
  • Translate client goals and brand standards into thoughtful design solutions.
  • Develop space plans, layouts, finishes, and FF&E palettes.
  • Prepare mood boards, elevations, finish schedules, and other design documentation.
  • Produce drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, developers, consultants, vendors, and manufacturers.
  • Participate in client meetings and present design concepts and selections.
  • Coordinate furniture, lighting, artwork, and other interior elements.
  • Review shop drawings, samples, and submittals for design intent.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with field verification and installation coordination.
  • Assist with budgeting, procurement, and value-engineering decisions.
  • Maintain project schedules and deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Research current interior design trends and maintain a timeless design perspective.
  • Ensure designs meet codes, accessibility standards, and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with the design team to maintain consistency and quality.

Job description

Interiors By Design is seeking an experienced and highly creative Multifamily Interior Designer to join our growing design team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of professional interior design experience, with a strong background in multifamily residential, hospitality, or other large-scale residential projects.

This position is ideal for a designer who can take a project from initial concept through design development and documentation while maintaining a high level of creativity, organization, and attention to detail. The successful candidate will be confident communicating with clients, architects, contractors, vendors, and internal team members and will be comfortable managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop creative and cohesive interior design concepts for multifamily residential communities, including common areas, amenity spaces, leasing centers, corridors, model units, and residential interiors.
  • Translate client goals, project requirements, and brand standards into thoughtful and functional design solutions.
  • Develop space plans, furniture layouts, finish selections, material palettes, color schemes, and FF&E specifications.
  • Prepare presentations, mood boards, material boards, elevations, finish schedules, and other design documentation.
  • Produce and review drawings using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
  • Collaborate with architects, contractors, developers, consultants, vendors, and manufacturers throughout the design and construction process.
  • Participate in client meetings and confidently present design concepts, selections, and recommendations.
  • Coordinate furniture, lighting, artwork, accessories, flooring, wall finishes, plumbing fixtures, hardware, and other interior elements.
  • Review shop drawings, samples, specifications, and submittals for design intent and accuracy.
  • Conduct site visits and assist with field verification, installation coordination, and project punch lists.
  • Assist with budgeting, pricing, procurement coordination, and value-engineering decisions.
  • Maintain project schedules, deadlines, and deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Research current interior design trends, materials, products, and manufacturers while maintaining a sophisticated and timeless design perspective.
  • Ensure design solutions meet project requirements, applicable codes, accessibility standards, and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with the design team to maintain consistency, quality, and a high level of design excellence.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional interior design experience.
  • Multifamily residential, hospitality, commercial, or high-end residential experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of space planning, FF&E, materials, finishes, and interior architecture.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and presentation software.
  • Experience developing complete design packages from concept through documentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and detailing.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to confidently communicate with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Ability to perform in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining a professional and positive attitude.
  • Must be proactive, resourceful, solutions‑oriented, and able to take ownership of assigned projects.
