Job summary

UFP Site Built is seeking a Multifamily Estimator responsible for detailing material estimates from architectural drawings for purchasing and production. The role requires generating detailed proposals and coordinating project stages with shipping lists and field take-offs.

Strong reading of drawings and plans, plus proficiency in estimation software, are essential. Preferred onsite in San Antonio, TX, with experience in multi-family or commercial estimating and solid math and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of experience in multi-family or commercial estimating.
• Proficiency in hand-done material take-offs.
• Experience reading architectural and engineered drawings.
• Construction framing experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn estimating software.

Responsibilities

• Provide a detailed list of material estimates from drawings for purchasing and production.
• Estimate and submit proposals for approval.
• Coordinate project stages with shipping lists and take-offs.
• Communicate effectively with all organizational levels.
• Provide problem-solving solutions using Building Codes and product information.
• Assist other estimators and work with Estimating & Project Management to complete assignments on time.
• Compile legible quotes for client submission.
• Perform other duties as required.

UFP Site Built is the leader in designing and manufacturing value-added wood and non-wood products for the construction industry. We offer a wide variety of wood structural components, aluminum decks and rails, and light gauge steel structural components.

The Multifamily Estimator is responsible for estimating the detailed list of materials, (Prefabricated wood roof and floor trusses, engineered wood products, wall panels, and hardware) for purchasing and production, according to architectural plans and engineered drawings. Location: Preferred onsite in San Antonio, TX

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Provides a detailed list of material estimates from drawings for purchasing and field construction Estimates and submits proposals for approval Assists coordinating the project at various stages with shipping lists, field support take offs, and construction Communicates effectively with all organizational levels Provides problem-solving solutions using Building Codes and product information Assist other estimators Works with estimating & Project Management to complete assignments in a timely manner Compile legible quotes for submission to client Performs other duties as required

Qualifications Knowledge 3-5 Years of Experience with Multi-family / Commercial estimating required Proficiency in hand done material take-offs Working knowledge and experience using Planswift or excel preferred Working knowledge and experience reading architectural and engineered drawings Construction experience with hands on framing experience preferred

Skills and abilities Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing and speaking Excellent written skills Ability to read and understand construction drawings Ability to read, understand and interpret building codes Strong math skills including algebra and geometry Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Strong Organizational Skills Ability to use a computer terminal Ability to learn estimating software Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public Ability to communicate effectively with others, including customers, builders, peers, and management Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, to organize and prioritize work, to meet deadlines, and work under little supervision Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel and ability to learn estimating software Ability to perform duties independently, while also functioning as part of the overall team Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time, be mobile in the work environment, and work hours mandated by management Ability to pass a drug test
