Job summary

Southern Energy Management is seeking a Multifamily Energy Efficiency Field Technician to inspect and test energy performance on new construction and rehab projects in Virginia. The role is field-heavy, with travel to sites and occasional overnight stays.

You will collect data, verify compliance with green building programs, and work closely with contractors and project managers. The position offers a competitive hourly wage of $19–$27, full benefits, and a 40-hour workweek.

Qualifications

• Strong customer relationship skills and teamwork with PMs and contractors.
• Ability to work outdoors in ladders, basements, crawl spaces, and attics.
• Experience with HERS ratings or energy modeling software preferred.
• Basic understanding of construction or building science.
• Excellent problem solving and attention to detail.
• 3+ years of licensed driving experience; 5+ preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site inspections and verify green building program compliance.
• Collect data and enter field data accurately.
• Test energy performance factors including whole-house air and duct leakage.
• Collaborate with general contractors and subcontractors to meet specs.
• Travel to project sites with occasional overnight stays.
