Job summary

Subsense is seeking a hands-on R&D Engineering Laboratory Technician to support electrical, optical, mechanical, and experimental hardware development. The role focuses on lab operations, prototype assembly, soldering, and equipment management, enabling engineers to run experiments efficiently.

You will own day-to-day lab organization and provide direct technical support across disciplines, collaborating with electrical, optical, and bioengineering teams in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience in electronics, optics, mechanics, or instrumentation laboratory.
  • Strong organization, attention to detail, and accurate record-keeping.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an organized and safe engineering laboratory across electrical, optical, and mechanical work areas.
  • Assemble, modify, and rework prototype PCBs and electronic assemblies; perform precision soldering.
  • Manage inventory of components and laboratory equipment; track calibration status.
  • Provide direct bench support for prototype assembly, fabrication, testing, and experimental setup.
  • Assist engineers with PCB bring-up, hardware debugging, and electrical measurements.
