Job summary

G.R. Birdwell Construction is seeking skilled Multicraft personnel to perform carpentry, rodwork and concrete finishing on an industrial plant project in East Houston.

The role involves constructing, erecting, stripping, and repairing structures using steel, wood or plywood, with placement and finishing of concrete and post-tension systems as required. Responsibilities include rebar installation, formwork construction and alignment, deck and foundation work, and ensuring adherence to project

Qualifications

• TWIC card required for project.
• Experience as Multicraft: carpenter, rodbuster and concrete finisher on industrial plants.

Responsibilities

• Install rebar for foundations (footings, grade beams, column footings).
• Install reinforcing and post-tension for structural decks; stress post-tension when required.
• Build and install wall and column forms; brace, align and anchor forms.
• Construct structural deck forms; set handrails and perform form stripping and curing tasks.
• Must handle tools for concrete placement and finish; maintain equipment and safety protocols.

Company Overview

Industrial Civil Construction Contractor specializing in structural concrete and sitework/earthwork looking for Skilled Multicraft Personnel able to perform the duties of a Carpenter, Rodbuster & Concrete Finisher for industrial plant in East Houston. TWIC card is required for this project.

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Superintendent/Foreman Multicraft Personnel will carry out assignments related to constructing, erecting, stripping, and/or repairing structures of steel, wood or plywood; hoist and place all required reinforcing, including rebar, wire mesh and post tension; concrete placement, finishing, curing and cutting based on the proper selection of equipment, tools, materials and sequencing needed to deliver an acceptable end product.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Installs Rebar for Foundations:
  • Places rebar in wall footings, grade beams, column footings, caps and footing steps.
  • Installs rebar templates, embeds and anchor bolts.
  • Offloads and packs rebar to appropriate location.
  • Installs all appropriate accessories to support rebar in its correct location.
• Installs reinforcing and post tension for structural deck:
  • Installs various rebar elements for the structural deck including rebar, wire mesh and post tension systems.
  • Pre-Ties reinforcing when cost effective
  • Installs all required accessories to support and hold reinforcing in final location.
  • Stresses post tension at required time to meet appropriate design criteria thru proper use of tensioning equipment.
  • Burns post tension cable ends off once approved.
• Places wall footings, grade beams and footing steps.
• Installs column footings and caps.
• Installs rebar templates, embeds and anchor bolts.
• Installs water stop systems with proper alignment.
• Builds and installs wall and column forms:
  • Installs various types of wall form systems.
  • Braces, stabilizes and aligns wall forms.
  • Installs, anchors, and embeds miscellaneous metals in correct locations.
  • Frames ledges, openings, block-outs and sleeves in correct locations.
  • Strips vertical formwork.
• Builds and installs Structural Deck Forms:
  • Installs various elements of the structural deck systems including but not limited to beam bottoms, beam sides, pans, and life-line systems.
  • Installs and removes post shoring, reshoring systems, and scaffolding.
  • Frames ledges, construction joints, openings, block-outs and sleeves in correct location.
  • Sets handrails.
  • Strips horizontal formwork.
  • Sets grades for horizontal decking systems
  • Properly rigs loads and materials to be moved by hoisting equipment
• Sets keyways
• Accurately sets, positions and stabilizes expansion joints
• Sets high tolerance edge forms
• Provides layout for control and construction joints
• Dismantles floor forms
• Establishes finish grade during the pour of the slabs
• Performs the following concrete placement and finish:
  • placing, finishing curing, and cutting of concrete slabs
  • patching and repairing of concrete work
  • concrete restoration
  • concrete joint treatments
  • applications of floor toppings
• Ensures floor finishes meet project requirements consistent with FF/FL terminology
• Proficient in the use of the following tools and has the knowledge to use the equipment at the proper time of the place-finishing sequence:
  • Straight edges to establish grade
  • Bull Floats, mops and Highway Straight Edges
  • Float blades, combo blades, and finish blades
  • Hand tools for Floor finishing, edging, joint tooling
  • Single and double trowel machines
  • Curing equipment
  • Pump Equipment
  • Vibratory Equipment
  • Walk-Behind Trowels
  • Double Riders
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all tools and equipment required
• Ensures proper maintenance of equipment and tools
