Weidmann Electrical Technology in Urbana, OH is hiring for an Industrial Maintenance Technician on the 3rd shift (Sun–Thu, 11pm–7am). The role focuses on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and electrical systems in a manufacturing setting.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of experience, an Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, and strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting and welding skills including MIG/TIG.

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Highly proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair, and welding/fabrication.
• Able to diagnose root causes of mechanical and electrical failures and perform reliable repairs.
• Welding (MIG and TIG) experience.
• Experience with 480V 3-phase systems, motors, controls, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Skilled with hand tools, power tools, meters, and mechanical service tools.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work non-climate-controlled environments.

Responsibilities

• Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase motors, motor starters, relays, switches, sensors, VFDs, and control circuits.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Perform welding and fabrication to support repairs, modifications, and improvements.
• Take precise measurements with micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Production to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
• Install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with controls-related diagnostics.
• Conduct preventive maintenance following safety procedures.

Join our team in Urbana, where you’ll help keep our manufacturing operations running by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and electrical systems. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment through a combination of electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and welding/fabrication. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing 480V three-phase electrical systems, motors, controls, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment, as well as maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, steam, and other mechanical systems. Welding and fabrication are regularly utilized to support equipment repairs, modifications, and reliability improvements.

We are seeking a well-rounded Industrial Maintenance Technician with strong experience in electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and welding/fabrication within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is capable of independently diagnosing equipment failures, performing repairs, fabricating solutions when needed, and supporting equipment reliability initiatives that minimize downtime and improve operational performance.

How You’ll Make An Impact…

• Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase motors, motor starters, relays, switches, sensors, VFDs, and control circuits.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and power transmission equipment.
• Perform welding and fabrication activities (MIG/TIG preferred) to support equipment repairs, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Support equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Work closely with Maintenance and Production to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
• Install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with controls-related diagnostics.
• Perform preventive maintenance and follow established safety procedures to ensure reliable equipment operation.

What Do You Bring…

• Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience (Skilled Trades program, military technical background, etc.).
• 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Must be highly proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair, and welding and fabrication.
• Strong ability to diagnose root causes of mechanical and electrical failures and perform reliable repairs independently.
