Weidmann Electrical Technology in Urbana, OH is seeking an experienced Industrial Maintenance Technician for the 3rd shift (Sun–Thu, 11pm–7am) to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial equipment and electrical systems. The role requires diagnosing failures and supporting equipment reliability initiatives to minimize downtime.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in manufacturing, strong electrical and mechanical skills, and welding (MIG/TIG).

Qualifications

• Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Highly proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair, and welding and fabrication.
• Experience with 480V 3-phase systems, motors, controls, PLCs, and VFDs.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems including 480V 3-phase motors and control circuits.
• Diagnose mechanical systems such as pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
• Perform welding and fabrication (MIG/TIG) to support repairs and improvements.
• Read blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Support reliability initiatives and reduce equipment downtime.
• Collaborate with Maintenance and Production to resolve issues.

Join our team in Urbana, where you’ll help keep our manufacturing operations running by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and electrical systems. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment through a combination of electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and welding/fabrication. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing 480V three-phase electrical systems, motors, controls, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment, as well as maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, steam, and other mechanical systems. Welding and fabrication are regularly utilized to support equipment repairs, modifications, and reliability improvements.

We are seeking a well-rounded Industrial Maintenance Technician with strong experience in electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and welding/fabrication within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is capable of independently diagnosing equipment failures, performing repairs, fabricating solutions when needed, and supporting equipment reliability initiatives that minimize downtime and improve operational performance.

How You’ll Make An Impact…

• Perform hands‑on troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase motors, motor starters, relays, switches, sensors, VFDs, and control circuits.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and power transmission equipment.
• Perform welding and fabrication activities (MIG/TIG preferred) to support equipment repairs, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Support equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Work closely with Maintenance and Production to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
• Install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC‑controlled equipment and assist with controls-related diagnostics.
• Perform preventive maintenance and follow established safety procedures to ensure reliable equipment operation.

What Do You Bring…

• Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience (Skilled Trades program, military technical background, etc.).
• 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Must be highly proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair, and welding and fabrication.
• Strong ability to diagnose root causes of mechanical and electrical failures and perform reliable repairs independently.
• Welding (MIG and TIG)
• Experience working with 480V 3-phase systems, motors, controls, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, meters, and mechanical service tools.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work in a non-climate‑controlled industrial environment.
• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and support operational goals.
