Weidmann Electrical Technology, Inc. in Urbana, OH is seeking an experienced Multicraft Maintenance Technician for a 3rd shift (Sun-Sat or Sun-Thu schedule) on-site. You will install, troubleshoot, and repair industrial equipment and electrical systems to keep manufacturing operations running smoothly.

The role emphasizes electrical and mechanical troubleshooting, welding/fabrication as needed, and collaboration with Maintenance and Production to improve reliability and reduce downtime.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent hands-on maintenance experience.
• 8+ years in manufacturing/heavy industrial environment.
• Proficient in electrical/mechanical troubleshooting and welding/fabrication.
• Ability to diagnose root causes and perform reliable repairs independently.
• Experience with 480V 3-phase systems, motors, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Skilled with hand/power tools and measurement devices.
• Experience with preventive maintenance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase motors, starters, relays, and PLCs.
• Repair mechanical systems: pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and power transmission.
• Perform MIG/TIG welding to support repairs and improvements.
• Take precise measurements with micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Read blueprints and electrical/mechanical drawings and coordinate with maintenance teams.
• Install, repair, and maintain manufacturing equipment; support reliability initiatives.

Join our team in Urbana, where you’ll help keep our manufacturing operations running by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment and electrical systems. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial equipment through a combination of electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and welding/fabrication. Responsibilities include diagnosing and repairing 480V three-phase electrical systems, motors, controls, sensors, and PLC-controlled equipment, as well as maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, power transmission, steam, and other mechanical systems. Welding and fabrication are regularly utilized to support equipment repairs, modifications, and reliability improvements.

We are seeking a well-rounded Industrial Maintenance Technician with strong experience in electrical troubleshooting, mechanical repair, and welding/fabrication within a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate is capable of independently diagnosing equipment failures, performing repairs, fabricating solutions when needed, and supporting equipment reliability initiatives that minimize downtime and improve operational performance.

How you’ll make an impact…

• Perform hands-on troubleshooting and repair of industrial electrical systems, including 480V 3-phase motors, motor starters, relays, switches, sensors, VFDs, and control circuits.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical systems including pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, and power transmission equipment.
• Perform welding and fabrication activities (MIG/TIG preferred) to support equipment repairs, modifications, and continuous improvement projects.
• Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
• Support equipment repair, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance activities.
• Read and interpret blueprints, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
• Work closely with Maintenance and Production to resolve equipment issues and improve reliability.
• Install, repair, and maintain industrial machinery and manufacturing equipment.
• Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and assist with controls-related diagnostics.
• Perform preventive maintenance and follow established safety procedures to ensure reliable equipment operation.

What do you bring…

• Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or related field, or equivalent hands‑on experience (Skilled Trades program, military technical background, etc.).
• 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
• Must be highly proficient in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repair, and welding and fabrication.
• Strong ability to diagnose root causes of mechanical and electrical failures and perform reliable repairs independently.
• Welding (MIG and TIG)
• Experience working with 480V 3-phase systems, motors, controls, PLCs, and VFDs.
• Skilled in using hand tools, power tools, meters, and mechanical service tools.
• Experience performing preventive maintenance and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
• Ability to lift up to 100 lbs and work in a non‑climate‑controlled industrial environment.
• Strong team player with the ability to collaborate, communicate effectively, and support operational goals.
