Job summary

The Vanderbilt YMCA in New York, NY is seeking a Mechanic responsible for maintaining HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems across the YMCA and its off-sites. Tasks include building repairs, cosmetic upgrades, and routine cleaning of interior and exterior spaces.

Under the supervision of the Property Manager, you will manage preventive maintenance, operate mechanical testing equipment, maintain safety logs, and ensure compliance with FDNY, DOB, and DOH requirements.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Five (5+) years maintenance and building construction experience.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment.
• Understanding of mechanical and test equipment.
• Ability to maintain and adjust controls, systems, and repairs.
• Experience with facility infrastructure planning and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and carpentry systems.
• Maintain and repair facility infrastructure and cosmetic upgrades.
• Clean and maintain building interiors and exteriors, including sidewalks and hallways.
• Maintain pool and related safety equipment and certifications.
• Keep logbooks as required by FDNY, DOB, and DOH.
• Work flexible hours and be on-call 24/7 when Property Manager is off-site.
