Job summary

DelDOT in Delaware's Maintenance & Operations division seeks a skilled trades technician to perform preventative maintenance, electrical work, HVAC maintenance and repair, and facility restoration activities across bridges, buildings and related systems.

The role requires overtime during storms and emergencies and may involve supervising other maintenance staff, keeping accurate records, and referring complex jobs to private contractors when needed.

Qualifications

• Delaware Journeyperson or higher Electrician license or equivalent license meeting Delaware requirements.
• Six months experience in plumbing, carpentry, painting or HVAC.
• Six months experience in record keeping.
• Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics or technical drawings.
• Ability to estimate cost, time and materials for projects.
• Valid Driver's License (not suspended, revoked or cancelled).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex maintenance on buildings, bridges and systems.
• Perform electrical work and maintain electrical systems.
• Restore facilities and renovate furniture and equipment as needed.
• Refer jobs beyond limits to private contractors when necessary.
• Maintain HVAC, pumps, valves and life safety systems; document work and materials.
