Job summary

City of Johnson City seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician I to perform intermediate skilled and semiskilled work in the maintenance, repair and alteration of municipal facilities. The role covers a variety of trades, from plumbing to carpentry, with supervision of a small team when required.

Employees operate from work orders and blueprints, and are evaluated by a supervisor during progress and at completion. A pre-employment physical and background check are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required with experience in building/mechanical maintenance.
• Journeyman level in at least one trade; capable of working across related trades.
• Pre-employment physical, drug screening and background check required.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance, repair, alteration and remodeling of municipal facilities.
• Work from work orders, sketches, penciled layouts or blueprints; follow supervisor guidance.
• May supervise a small group of semiskilled or unskilled workers when needed.
