Qualifications

• BA or BS degree in subject matter.
• California Commission on Teacher Credentialing credential, certificate, permit or other documentation equivalent to what a teacher in other public schools would be required to hold
• Highly qualified in core courses as defined in the section titled “NCLB and Credentialing Requirements”
• Understanding of subjects assigned
• Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
• Capability of instructing students and managing their behavior
• Exceptional organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Design, write and use lesson plans that conform to the charter’s curriculum. Plans reviewed by dean of academics.
• Modify instruction for different student learning styles.
• Teach according to California DOE guidelines and charter policies.
• Use data to tailor instructional strategies to student needs.
• Collaborate with special education staff on IEPs.
• Coordinate with staff to meet charter instructional goals.
• Oversee teacher aides and volunteers.
• Incorporate technology to strengthen learning.
