Job summary

Sarasota Memorial Health Care System seeks a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to perform vascular and general ultrasound studies on diverse patient groups. The role operates under the Vascular Lab Clinical Manager and Radiologist, applying ultrasound techniques with autonomy to support radiologic diagnosis.

Candidates must hold RVT/RVS registrations and ARDMS credentials, with Abdomen or OB/GYN registrations required within one year of hire; a diploma from a ultrasound program is needed.

Qualifications

• Require registration in Vascular Technology (RVT or RVS).
• Require registration in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS).
• Must obtain Abdomen (AB) or OB/GYN (OB/GYN) within one year from hire.
• Diploma from Ultrasound education program must be held.

Responsibilities

• Perform vascular and general diagnostic ultrasound on adults, elderly, pediatric and adolescent patients.
• Work under direction of the Vascular Lab Clinical Manager and Radiologist/Ultrasound Coordinator.
• Independently apply prescribed sound waves for radiologic diagnosis and assume responsibilities for designated areas.
• Float to several outpatient Ultrasound locations as needed.

Performs vascular Ultrasound procedures under the direction of the Vascular Lab Clinical Manager. Preforms general Ultrasound procedures under the direction of a Radiologist and/or the Ultrasound Clinical Coordinator. Must perform variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed sound waves for radiologic diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

Required Qualifications

Require registration in Vascular Technology by either accrediting body:

• American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT)
• Cardiac Credentialing International (RVS)

Require registration in Diagnostic Medical Sonography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), and must hold at least one (1) of the following upon hire:

• Abdomen (AB)
• Obstetrics & Gynecology (OB/GYN)

Both of the above registries must be obtained within one (1) year from hire.

• Require diploma from Ultrasound education program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prefer experience in both vascular and general ultrasound.

Required License and Certs

• BLS: Basic Life Support/CPR
• RDMS: Reg Diag Med Sonographer

Preferred License And Certs

Float position - required to float to several of our outpatient Ultrasound locations when needed.
