Job summary

Harford County Government is seeking a semi-skilled helper to support the Building Construction and Repair Supervisor and journeyman Building Maintenance Mechanic. You will perform routine tasks across carpentry, drywall, painting, floors, and grounds maintenance under supervision, with potential independent work after instruction.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, one year of experience, a valid Class C license, and the ability to lift up to 100 pounds.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of building trades and grounds maintenance.
• Safety precautions in those areas must be followed.
• Ability to use hand tools and maintain power tools.
• Able to work from ladders and read basic drawings/blueprints.
• Collaborate well with others and follow instructions.

Responsibilities

• Performs minor tasks in carpentry, drywall, painting and related trades under supervision.
• Assists in more difficult tasks in building trades and grounds maintenance.
• Keeps equipment safe and in good working order and operates power tools.
• Moves office furniture and transports items as required.
• Drives a County vehicle in carrying out assignments.
