Job summary

Ethos Veterinary Health is seeking a Field Human Resources Manager to support our specialty and emergency hospitals across the Bay Area.

This full-time, in-person role partners with hospital leadership to foster a positive workplace culture, provide strategic HR guidance, and support growth and success of our teams. Regular travel between hospitals is required to maintain strong relationships and implement HR initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in HR, business, or related field.
• Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, SPHR, or CA HR Certification) preferred.
• Solid knowledge of California employment law and HR best practices; CA certification preferred.
• Exceptional communication, coaching, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel throughout the Bay Area.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary HR partner for multiple Bay Area hospitals.
• Partner with hospital leadership on employee relations, coaching, performance management, and conflict resolution.
• Support recruiting, onboarding, retention, engagement, and succession planning initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as company policies.
• Guide leaders through investigations, corrective actions, accommodations, leaves of absence, and policy interpretation.
• Analyze workforce trends and recommend strategies that improve employee engagement and organizational effectiveness.
• Partner with Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Compensation, and HR Centers of Excellence.
• Travel regularly throughout the Bay Area to provide onsite support and build strong relationships with hospital teams.
• Maintain flexibility to support a 24/7 veterinary environment as business needs require.
