Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking an OT Automation Engineer to lead multi-plant automation initiatives across automotive plants in the United States. You will deploy and optimize Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, and robotics, and drive Industry 4.0 projects including AI/ML for predictive maintenance and anomaly detection.

Collaborating with Production, Engineering, OT, and IT, you will boost throughput, uptime, and quality KPIs while ensuring cybersecurity and compliance with automotive standards.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Robotics Engineering.
• 5+ years of industrial automation experience in multi-plant automotive manufacturing.
• Hands-on experience with Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, and robotics systems (Fanuc, ABB, Kawasaki).
• Proven ability to standardize automation practices across multiple plants.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-plant automation design, deployment, and optimization.
• Standardize automation practices across all plants for consistency and compliance.
• Integrate automation with MES, SCADA, IIoT, and analytics for real-time monitoring.
• Implement Industry 4.0 initiatives including AI/ML for predictive maintenance.
• Collaborate with Production, Engineering, OT, and IT to improve KPIs.
• Troubleshoot automation issues across sites and ensure rapid recovery.
• Support vehicle launches and plant expansions with automation integration.
• Evaluate new automation technologies like cobots, AMRs, AGVs, and digital twins.
• Establish automation KPIs and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor Controls & Robotics Engineers and maintain SOPs and security.
